When Fungi Found Us
Presented by Stephen Axford and Catherine Marciniak, Planet Fungi

Filmmaker–photographer duo Stephen Axford and Catherine Marciniak share their extraordinary two-decade journey into the hidden world of fungi. From the rainforests of Australia to the cloud forests of the Himalayas, their films, photography, and time-lapse work reveal fungi as nature’s great networkers—recycling life, nurturing forests, and shaping the planet. Featuring highlights from their own documentary Follow the Rain and other blue-chip nature documentaries that have featured their work such as Planet Earth 2, a glimpse into the stories of their new book Planet Fungi – A Photographer’s Foray, and field experiments with their portable time-lapse studio, this session uncovers the artistry, science, and wonder of fungi—and how, in many ways, it was fungi that found them.
